It’s my pleasure to announce that Nancy Zafris’s short story collection The People I Know is now available in paperback from The University of Georgia Press—or will be in October. For those of you not familiar with her, Nancy Zafris is the current editor of the Flannery O’Connor award series; she is also a former Flannery O’Connor winner for this collection, which is a really great collection. My favorite stories are “A Minor Fatality” and “The People I Know,” and my partner really loves “Grace’s Reply.” Just after she read it, we were at the symphony, and as the lights went down, she leaned over and whispered, “I’m thinking about that story”—someday, I’d like to have a reader anticipating a great night at the symphony with one of my stories stuck in her or his head instead. I should also say that Nancy is a really great editor, and I am deeply indebted to her for guiding me through the whole process of publishing my first book. You can read about and purchase her book here or on Amazon.
